Restore Your Smile with Dentures

Our Peachtree Dentist offer full and partial dentures to assist our patients who are missing multiple teeth. Your denture journey with us begins with a complimentary consultation where you and Dr. Skelton can decide what kind of dentures will work best for your unique case. Dr. Skelton takes many things into account when deciding on your treatment plan. You will discuss your age, comfort, bone density level, and overall hygiene before choosing a path. After consulting and planning, all there’s left to do is schedule your appointment before you’re enjoying your new smile with dentures in Peachtree Corners, GA.

Conventional and Immediate Dentures

Patients who need to restore full dentition (no remaining natural teeth) may require both immediate and conventional complete dentures.

Conventional dentures are created after the gums, palate, and jaw have fully healed from tooth loss or extraction. Once healing is complete, a custom denture will be made to fit your mouth comfortably.

Immediate dentures, on the other hand, are designed and fitted on the same day as any remaining teeth are extracted. These dentures allow patients to have a temporary solution while their mouth heals. Since the gums and jaw will change shape during the healing process, follow-up visits may be needed to adjust the fit of the immediate dentures.

While immediate dentures can provide a long-term solution for some, they are typically a temporary option until conventional dentures can be fitted after complete healing.

What to Expect with Complete Dentures

New complete dentures can take some time to adjust to, but with immediate dentures, you can avoid the challenges of missing teeth affecting your appearance and diet. Dr. Park Skelton will take precise molds of your mouth to craft complete dentures that fit securely, ensuring a natural-looking smile with minimal disruption to your eating and speaking habits. However, during the first few days or weeks, you may experience:
  • An increase in saliva production
  • Minor discomfort, which may include superficial sores on your gums and/or palate
As your mouth heals from tooth loss, the fit of your complete dentures may change, and you may need to visit Dr. Skelton for an adjustment.

Other Restorative Options

Immediate complete dentures are not the only restorative dentistry option. You may also be a candidate for partial dentures, bridges, and implants. Dr. Skelton can help you understand and select the restorative procedure that best meets your needs. To schedule a consultation at our Peachtree Corners, GA dental office, please contact us.
